Anna Ellenberger

   OBIT PHOTO Anna EllenbergerAnna Lee Gilbert “Ann” Ellenberger, Age 87 of  Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday November 10th, 2015 surrounded by family and close friends. Visiting will be held on Thursday Nov. 12, from 5-6pm with a funeral service beginning at 6pm at Caggiano Memorial Home, 62 Grove St, Montclair.

    Ann was born to Eller and Bertha Gilbert on June 26th, 1928 in Butler, Tennessee and attended Hampton High School. She joined the United States Army in 1951, was stationed in Germany and played basketball during her time in the service. She received an honorable discharge in 1952. Ann loved to travel and became an airline stewardess for United Airlines in 1953.
    In 1956 Ann married Arthur R. Ellenberger and they were happily married for 59 years. They made their home in Bloomfield, NJ where they lived for the past 56 years.
    Ann was an Operations Manager at Merrill Lynch in Paramus, NJ. She went on to study at the New York Institute of Finance and received her Brokers License. She became a Registered Sales Assistant to a Wealth Manager at Merrill Lynch for 15 years. Anna loved her work and made many long lasting relationships while she was there.
    Ann is survived by her sisters Betty Trivette, Billie Andrews, and brother Leonard D. Gilbert, along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Ann’s husband Arthur predeceased her earlier this year in July. Her sister Myrtle Stout passed away November 11th, 2015.
   Ann was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend, and a very caring woman of Christian faith. Mrs. Ellenberger enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband and also took many trips with her dear friends. One of her favorite trips was to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Ann loved country music and especially loved Elvis Presley. Mrs. Ellenberger was a good cook and enjoyed entertaining at home for family and friends. Ann would often can her own vegetables and make delicious homemade jam. Her outlook on life can be summed up in one of her favorite quotes:
“Happiness is like Jam… You can’t Spread even a Little without getting Some on Yourself.”
