Arthur E. Lape Jr., 71, passed away on Friday October 20th, 2017 at home in Lakewood.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O’Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St. Bloomfield at on Wednesday at 9 AM. The funeral mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church, 76 Broad St. Bloomfield at 10:30 AM. Interment Private. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Born in Newark, Art lived in Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Middletown and the last 2 years in Lakewood. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Art spent 35 years working for the U.S. Postal Service in Montclair. Starting in 1989, he also worked at Unirec Event Planning. Art was also very active with the American Red Cross, volunteering and holding other positions since 1975. He was involved with both Bloomfield and Cedar Grove Recreation Departments and an umpire and referee throughout NJ. From 2007-2010, Art worked with Thinkpath Engineering Services. Throughout his life, one of Art’s favorite things to do was playing Santa Claus.
Art was the father of Susan Roberts and her husband Dylan, and John Lape; son of the late Arthur E. and Catherine (Carroll) Lape; brother of Judith Hemmer, Paul G. Lape, Robin Grasso, Colleen Cordasco, Gordon Cordasco and Joseph Lape.
