Barbara Anne Faith Mell

Barbara Anne Faith Mell passed away on February 15, 2019 with her loving husband David Mell at her side. In honor of Barbara there will be a visitation and prayer service on Thursday, February 28th from 4-7 pm at O’Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. Barbara was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late James and Eleanor Kenny. She was the eldest of two children. Barbara and her brother James were loving children to their parents. She left Newark early in her adult life to begin a family. She met the love of her life and married David Allen Mell in 1974. She is the mother of eight children. Her love of family and friends was the driving force in her life. She was a loving and attentive grandmother, who was involved in planning for her grandchildren’s future.
While caring for her family, Barbara attended night school, where she earned a nursing degree. Barbara dedicated herself to the health of her patients, and to the protection of their dignity and rights. After a distinguished career in nursing, Barbara worked for the New Jersey Operating Engineers Local 825. There she ensured that members were provided with the highest quality of health care services. She saved many lives over the course of her career and instilled in her children the value of helping others.
Barbara had many interests. She loved to travel and has explored Europe and America. Barbara loved art and music and was particularly fond of French impressionists. She loved mysteries and enjoyed many novels and films, among her favorites were Agatha Christie novels and PBS Inspector Lewis.
Barbara was predeceased by her son Mark and parents James and Eleanor and is reunited with them in heaven. She leaves loving memories to her husband David and her children Rebecca, Jamie, Matthew, Paul, George, Jennifer and Annie and her step children David, Edward, Deborah and Patricia and all her grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her youngest grandchildren Katie, Brian, James and Brendan.
