David Henderson, 58, of Woodland Park, died peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2016. This past week, he knew that his battle with cancer was coming to an end. David grew up in Woodland Park and moved to South Orange for many years. He graduated from Passaic Valley High School and attended CW Post University in New York. Recently settling back in Woodland Park, he owned and operated a transportation technical company. Jazz, photography, basketball, family, and friends were the cornerstones of his life. He loved coaching youth basketball and mentoring student athletes.
David is survived by many family members including his son, Marshall; parents, Hank and Ethel; longtime companion and devoted caregiver, Liz; siblings, Kathy Carter, Beth La Fountain and her husband Fred, and Ken Henderson and his wife Eileen; nieces, Melissa, Danielle and Erika and nephews, Brian, Evan, and Ron. David’s cousins also join in sharing their many memories.
He had a wonderful heart and will be missed by everyone.
A Service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at The Unitarian Universalist at Montclair Church, 67 Church St., Montclair, N.J.
