Doris E. Heilbrand of Pipersville, Pa. died July 2, 2018 of chronic heart failure at Pine Run Health Center in Doylestown, Pa. She was 95. She was the wife of the late William R. Heilbrand.
Born in Kings Lynn, England, she was the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Alice Z. Seamn Wheeler.
She came to the United States in 1954, lived in Newark and Maplewood, N.J. She worked as a nanny, serving as a mentor and role model to Jessica Sobon Leddin of Suwanee, Ga. and her brother Steven Sobon of Port Lucie, Fla. during their formative years. She moved to Pennsylvania in 1991.
Doris was an avid gardener. She started a gardening club while living in Maplewood and was recognized for her beautification efforts by the mayor. She enjoyed cooking, had a great curiosity and a life-long desire to learn. She was happiest telling stories of her life in England and during WWII. A fan of the movie Auntie Mame, she often cited the line “live, live, live” as her personal motto.
She is survived by her daughter, Pauline Johnson of Pipersville Pa.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson- Suhay, husband, Thomas, of Frenchtown, N.J.; great-grandson Bradley Pollick of Jacksonville, Fla. and sister, Jeanne Wheeler of Kings Lynn. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Tracy S. Pollick of Jacksonville, Fla.
Her memorial service will be held on July 11th, at Reedand Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. Interment private.
