Dorothy J. Collins (nee McGrath) passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. surrounded by her family and caring hospital team.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O’Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad Street, Bloomfield on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. The funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Born in Jersey City, Dorothy lived in Bloomfield for the last 49 years. She was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Jersey City and Seton Hall University. After graduation, she worked at AT&T in the shareholder relations department. She volunteered for many years at St. Thomas the Apostle School and also worked at Travelers Insurance Company in the retirement benefits area.
Dorothy was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend; she will be missed by so many.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of Charles M. Collins for 51 years, mother of Elizabeth O’Melia and her husband Michael, Judith Rodgers and her husband Mark, sister of Ann Craven and her husband William. She was the cherished grandmother of Matthew, Sean and Grace Rodgers. She had many loving and loved nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her infant son Charles, her parents John and Anna McGrath, and her brothers John and Joseph McGrath.
