Francis John Murphy Marino, a life-long resident of Bloomfield, NJ, stepped into eternity to be present with the Lord on June 04, 2020 at the age of 52. He was born in Newark, NJ on April 20, 1968.
If anything could be said about Fran, it would be that he had a heart of gold and he was a good soul. He would help anyone without question. Like the night he picked up a homeless man from the middle of the street and rested him on the grass on the curb. He said God would never forgive him if he didn’t help the man whose legs almost got run over by a car.
He loved the Yankees. He was a great story teller as anyone would know who heard him recount, for the 100th time, any one of the Honeymooners episodes, word for word.
He was a Yankee baseball aficionado. He graduated Bloomfield High School. He had ambitions to get a certification in counseling. This was his calling. He had a way of drawing people in, giving them insight they never heard before. Everyone he ever met loved and respected him. He helped a lot of people.
Did I mention he was a true, die-hard, Yankee fan? He knew every statistic and player from way back when baseball started. Don Mattingly 23, he was your biggest fan. Maybe it was because you both had the same birthday or he just thought you were the best at what you did. Francis John Murphy Marino, The Duke, was the best at what he did. Making everyone love him and miss him eternally.
Fran is survived by his mother, Donna (Marino) Schlaefer and his step-father, Robert Schlaefer; his father, Francis John Murphy, Jr.; his daughter, Madison Di Pasquale; his brother, Larry Sarno and Kelly; his sisters, Jenna Wheeler and Sarah Theodore; his nieces, Ariana Joi Wheeler and Izabella Dawn Wheeler and soon to be Shealynn Rose Walsh; his nephews, Henry Jay Theodore and Thomas Francis Walsh IV.
He is predeceased by his brother, Jason Gregory Marino and his grandparents, Alfred and Margaret Marino and Francis and Dorothy Murphy, Sr.
