Gerard Alfonso Imperiale (Jerry), 55, passed away on March 31, 2021 at home in Newark, NJ.
Born in Newark NJ, on April 14, 1965, Gerard lived in Bloomfield for some years before moving back to the Ironbound section of Newark.
Gerard loved spending time with his family and often commanded the dance floor at any family event. He was know to be an avid dancer as well as a NY Giants and a NY Yankees fan.
Gerard worked at C&J Towing for many years. A mechanic by trade, he worked at various establishments throughout his career. As a teenager, he volunteered with the North Ward First Aid Squad, founded by his father, where he went on to become an EMT. This is where his passion for helping others came from as he went on to be part of various rescue operations from taking medical supplies in the early 80’s to Italy after the earthquake to driving down south with his fellow North Ward Ambulance members, bringing donations of food and clothing to hurricane victims.
Gerard was preceded by his parents the Hon. Anthony and Kathleen Imperiale, and his brother Anthony Imperiale, Jr.
He is survived by his children Danielle, Samantha and Gerard Imperiale,Jr. By his siblings Kenneth Imperiale (Louise), Christopher (Carole), Michael, Toni-Lynn Scibilia (Gian), Audrey Heimen (Peter) and sister in law Anna Imperiale. Also survived by his grandchildren who so lovingly referred to him as “Pop Dukes”, Adriana and Dante, 7 nieces, 5 nephews, 4 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
