Joan Levandoski, 86, formerly of Bloomfield and Deltona, FL, entered into eternal life on January 30th, 2016 in Wellesley, MA after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Detroit, MI she lived in Pennsylvania as a child. After graduating from Michigan State, took a position during WWII as schoolteacher at Ramey Air Force base in Puerto Rico, teaching Military Officers’ children. It was there that she met her future husband, the late Theodore Z. Levandoski. They married and came to Bloomfield, where they began their family. Active in Bloomfield, founded the Library at St. Valentine School, was president of the Quilting Guild of Pennsylvania, worked as a Soup Kitchen volunteer with Mother Teresa’s Mission in Newark, long time member of St. Valentine Church. They retired in 1984 and moved to Deltona Florida. While there she was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Church for 26 years. A devoted wife, wonderful mother, good friend and a superior seamstress she was always happy and never met a stranger.
She is predeceased by her husband, Theodore Z. Levandoski (2009). Loving mother of Michael Z. (his wife MaryBeth), Anne M. Daniels (her husband Douglas), Jean A. Levandoski & Thaddeus Q. Levandoski. Beloved sister of Robert Schnuck (his wife Dawn), cherished grandmother of Kristin M. & Karen E. Levandoski. She is also survived by several nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, February 5th at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Valentine Church, Bloomfield at 10:00 a.m. Following the mass, interment will be held in private at Brigadier General William C.
