John H. Raab of Naples FL and Normandy Beach NJ, formerly of Glen Ridge passed away on October 8, 2016 at age of 76.
He was born and raised in Glen Ridge NJ and graduated from Glen Ridge High School in 1958. He graduated from Susquehanna University in 1962 with a B.S. degree. In 1965 earned his Master of Science Business Administration degree from Bucknell University. From 1965 to 1978 he was employed at United States Trust Company of New York. In 1978 he founded his own investment advisory firm which is known today as Chatham Wealth Management.
He was predeceased by his parents, Caroline Hochstuhl and Henry G. Raab. He leaves his beloved wife, Donna, of 40 years; a sister, Barbara Noble of Bethel, Vermont; stepson Daniel Moskowitz of Chatham, NJ (Jennifer, his wife, daughter Megan and son Robert); stepson Eric (Rick) Moskowitz of Scituate, MA (wife Liz, daughter Sara, and two sons Jack and Ethan); a son Steven from Brielle, NJ (wife Loren, daughters Emma and Chloe).
Upon graduation from Susquehanna University he received the alumni award for the “Senior Man Most Typifying the Ideals of Susquehanna University.” He was an avid birder and contributor to the New Jersey Audubon Society, and enjoyed volunteering with Friends of Great Swamp. He was a loyal member in the Rotary Club of Glen Ridge for 37 years where he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow three times.
Interment at the Bloomfield Cemetery is private. Memorial Service celebrating John’s life is on Thursday, October 13 at 10:30 AM at the Glen Ridge Congregation Church, 195 Ridgewood Ave, Glen Ridge, NJ.
