  John Patrick McDermott Esq. (Jack), 70, of Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at Van Dyk Manor in Montclair surrounded by his loving family.

   Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O’Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St. Bloomfield on Monday at 8:30 AM. The funeral mass will be offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield at 10 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be on Sunday from2-8 PM.    Born in Trenton, Jack lived in Hamilton and most of his life in Bloomfield. He was an Attorney at the John P. McDermott Law Office in Bloomfield. Before that he was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War as well as a graduate of Seton Hall University and John Marshall Law School. At Seton Hall he was a brother of Phi Kappa Theta.

   Jack was the husband of Michele McDermott (nee McGovern) for 42 years; father of Kathleen (Katie) McDermott, Timothy (Timmy) McDermott and his fiancee Debi Prucell; brother of Carol Snyder and the late William H. McDermott Jr.; brother in law of Elmo Snyder and Margaret McDermott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
