Josephine Banda (nee Ruglio), 90, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at home in Bloomfield.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O’Boyle Funeral Home 309 Broad St. Bloomfield on Monday at 10:30 a.m. The funeral mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Mt. Born in Caposele, Italy, Mrs. Banda live in Newark and the last 57 years in Bloomfield.
She was a skilled seamstress for Newark Slip Company, and a talented dressmaker.
She was a District Leader and County Committee Chairperson for the Democratic Party,
She was a Eucharist Minister and member of the Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church, honored as Rosarian of the Year in 1995 and member of Birth Right of Essex County.
She was the wife of the late Rocco B. Banda for 56 years, loving mother of Karen Ann Banda of Bloomfield, Mary Ellen Waggoner and her husband Robert of Mountain Lakes and the late Gerald Banda, grandmother of John Ary and Joanna Frances Waggoner. She was predeceased by 3 sisters and a brother. The family would like to express special thanks to her dedicated caregiver Maria Alayon.
