Devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend. Karen Ann Caputo passed away at home on November 12, 2018 after an extended and courageous battle, fighting to the end. She was 51 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday November 17th at 11:15am at a Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave, Short Hills.
Karen was a graduate of the Academy of Saint Elizabeth, Susquehanna University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Seton Hall University where she received a Masters in Education.
She had an enormous heart and loved those close to her without condition, especially her children, Peter and Pia, to whom she was a fierce and devoted mother. Karen never missed an opportunity to spoil her children or their cousins. A wonderful listener, she was always there in the time of need and had a wonderful wisdom about her. Karen had lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply.
Karen had a smile that looked like sunshine and a sense of humor that would make even the most solemn laugh. She was as stubborn as she was creative in the kitchen, making the best meatballs in the family where meatballs are a matter of serious business. She was never happier than when in Nantucket, on the beach, surrounded by her family, looking forward to dinner out.
Karen will be dearly missed by her loving children Peter and Pia Stokes, her mother Cathy Caputo, sisters Kit Manigan and Kerry Barberan, brothers-in-law Mark Manigan and Ron Barberan and nephews and niece Jack and Meredith Manigan and Nicholas Barberan. The family finds great comfort in knowing that Karen will be greeted in Heaven by her beloved father Anthony R. Caputo M.D, who predeceased her.
