Lawrence John Hesterfer, 85, of Cape May Court House, NJ died Saturday, September 3rd, 2016. “Larry”, who was born January 4th, 1931 in Montclair, NJ, was the son of the late LeRoy and Mary Hesterfer.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend the funeral service at the O’Boyle Funeral Home 309 Broad St. Bloomfield on Friday Sept. 9th. Interment took place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Please express condolences atwww.oboylefuneralhome.com
Upon graduating from high school, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. After his service in the Marines, Larry’s love of flowers and talent for arranging them led him to establish and operate several florist shops in the Washington, DC area. He was especially proud to have contributed floral arrangements for President Johnson’s daughter’s wedding and John F. Kennedy’s funeral. Upon returning to New Jersey, Larry enjoyed a successful career as an insurance adjuster. Later, after retiring from the insurance business, Larry found that he had a love and talent for poetry. He published numerous poems and won several awards for his poetry.
Preceeding him in death is his partner of 40 years, John Pulaski.
Larry is survived by his sister, Gail Coleman and her husband Rob, of Lancaster, PA. He is also survived by his brother Greg and his wife Janice. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews namely, Liam, Sean, Tim, Melissa, Marcia, Janette and Wilson. They will miss him dearly. Larry will always be remembered as a kind, thoughtful man who was always the “life of the party”.
