Marie Jordan Martignoni

Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Teacher. March 10, 1944 – May 27, 2020
Marie was born on March 10, 1944 to parents Theresa (Geraghty) and Thomas Jordan in Brooklyn, NY. She was raised in Hoboken, NJ, and later attended The Academy of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ, where she received her degree in Elementary Education.
Marie devoted her entire career to education, enriching the lives of hundreds of students as an elementary school teacher, initially at St. Peter’s School (Belleville, NJ), followed by the Wallace School (Hoboken, NJ), Sacred Heart School (Bloomfield, NJ), and ultimately retiring from Miller Street School (Newark, NJ). Marie’s teaching, both inside and outside the classroom, provided an invaluable impact on the education of countless young children in the state of New Jersey.
Marie married Raymond Martignoni in 1972. Together they raised their three children, Peter, Anne, and Devin, in Glen Ridge, NJ. Marie retired to Brielle, NJ. Marie was very fond of Irish music and was a connoisseur of Irish culture and heritage. She loved a “cuppa” tea, strawberry bonbon ice cream and watching the waves crash on the beach.
Marie will be missed by many, but none more so than by her three children, Peter Martignoni (Ali), Anne Horning (Bill) and Devin Martignoni (Jodie) and her 7 grandchildren whom she was known to as Grandma Dos, and whom she loved more than anything: Chase, Bryce, Libby, Casey, Curran, Liam and Ryan. She is survived by her sisters: Candy Turner (Rick) and Winnie Frio (Joe).
Marie is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Martignoni, and her parents, Theresa (Geraghty) Jordan and Thomas Jordan.
