Mary Stark, (nee Kearney), 93, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at St. Joseph Healthcare & Rehab Center in Cedar Grove.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend the funeral from the O’Boyle Funeral Home on Friday. The funeral mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Condolences at

Born in Newark, Mrs. Stark was a lifelong resident of Bloomfield. She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, class of 1943. She continued her education at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Paterson, graduating in 1946. She became a registered nurse, worked for a pediatrician for 17 years, and for several more years at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Montclair, where she helped establish the first intensive care unit in 1967. In 1975 Mary became a public health care staff nurse at Chrill Home care agency in Montclair, eventually becoming their director of training and recruiting,. She retired in 1989.
Mary was a member of the Rosary Society, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, the Columbiettes- Bloomfield 1178. She was a Seton Associate of Sisters of Charity of St Elizabeth, one of the original members of the Parish Nurse Wellness Ministry at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a member of St. Joseph’s Alumni Association.
She was the wife of the late Deacon Henry (Harry) Stark, stepmother of Harry Jr. and his wife Kathy, Linda Paquet and the late John Stark, mother-in-law of Marilyn Stark, sister of Joseph Kearney, Theresa Bates, Christine Hobmeier and the late John Kearney. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
