Patricia Jane Barry, 86 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday January 12, 2019.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O’Boyle Funeral Home 309 Broad St. Bloomfield on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. The funeral mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield at 1030 a.m. Interment will take place at Mt. Born in the Bronx, NY on October 28, 1932 to Theodore Gunther and Anna Cunningham Gunther. She was raised in Newark and graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy. Pat was married to Joseph Barry, Jr. for 63 years and raised their family in Bloomfield. She had a ready smile, a listening ear for all, and always a song on her lips. She lived her life in service to others, as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She opened her heart and home to all and was often found at the kitchen table offering a cup of tea, words of kindness and wisdom, and above all, love.
Patricia was predeceased by her sisters, Marie Prisco, Katherine Clark, and Anna Gunther, and her brother John Gunther. She is survived by her husband Joseph Barry Jr., children Patricia (Thomas) Corcoran, Joseph (Bambi) Barry III, Ted (Sue) Barry, Nancy (James) Carey, Eileen (Robert) McLaughlin, Jane (Kevin) Mahoney, Kathy (Dominic) Toto, Betsy (Louis) Orellana. Also survived by her sister, Eileen Smith, and sister-in-law, Peggy Horan. She was a beloved grandmother who took great delight in her 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
