Richard A. Saporito

Richard A. Saporito, 55 of Hamburg, formerly of Bloomfield, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Hackensack University Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Bloomfield to the late Arsenio & Anna (nee: Rosania) he lived there most of his life until relocating to Hamburg in 2020.
A graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle Grammar School and Paul VI High School in Clifton (1983), Rich devoted much of his spare time over the past 15 years coaching Girls Basketball & Softball for St. Thomas, besides his wife and kids, that was the love of his life.
St. Thomas is a very special place to Rich and his family, having received all his sacraments there it was also where he met the love of his life, Darlene (nee: Hall), they would later marry at St. Thomas and welcome two daughters.
Rich loved sports, he played baseball and basketball in high school and was an avid Vikings and Dodgers Fan.
He would also reminisce of beach days with his family, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Although not a sun bather or fan of sand, the great memories were still embedded in his mind.
He is the beloved husband of Darlene (nee: Hall), cherished father of Samantha & Stephanie Saporito & loving brother of Robert Saporito & his wife Susan, the Most Reverend Michael A. Saporito (Auxiliary Bishop of Newark) & the late Joanne Veon & her husband Richard. He is also survived by his Aunt Theresa Saporito & Uncle John Saporito, nieces and nephews; Maria Dover, Lisa Quinn & Deanna Lora & adorable great nieces & nephews; Levi, Emmi & Caleb Dover, many cousins and dear friends.
Lastly, he will be greatly missed by the family’s beagles, Missy & Brody & Henry (his niece & nephew’s dog)
