On April 30, Richard (Dick) Philip Rampolla, Sr. passed away in his home surrounded by family members. Known to many as Pop, he was proud to be husband for 69 years to his first love, Madeleine (nee DePuy); father to daughter Virginia Hicks & husband Stephen; son Richard Rampolla Jr. & wife Danusia; daughter Lisa Weber & husband Marty; grandfather to Mathew & Gloriarose Konopinski, Emily Konopinski & Peter Trunk, Laine Hicks & Sam Roche; Melanie Rychok & Garrett Hincken, Tamara Rychok; Jessica Berry Beals & Rob Beals, Elizabeth Berry James & Rob James; great-grandfather to Julia, Gabrielle, & Anna Beals; Lucille, Matilda & Eleanor Konopinski; & August Trunk.
Born in Bayonne, Dick attended Holy Family Academy and graduated Cum Laude from Saint Peter’s University. Dick’s lifelong career was in casualty insurance where he remained active until retirement at 83 as Executive Vice President of Slapin, Lieb, Pike, Rampolla Insurance.
Dick and Madeleine started married life in Bayonne before finding their permanent home and community in Maplewood in 1962. Dick became a committed volunteer with many Maplewood organizations: Cub Scouts, Lions, Civic Association, Cultural Commission, & 4th of July Planning Committee. In recognition of his volunteer work and leadership, Dick received the Maple Leaf Award in 1994.
