Rita G. Lynch (nee: Bansbach), was peacefully taken from her loving family on March 3, at 93-years-old. Rita led a long, happy life, creating her own unique path along the way.
Rita valued nothing more than family, evidenced by the way she cherished her role as matriarch of the Lynch/Bansbach family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Frank Lynch, parents Gustave and Loretta, and younger siblings Teddy and Delores, whom she helped raise after the early passing of her mother. Life with Frank led to her most prized roles as mother to Kevin and Karen and “Nana” to five granddaughters: Courtney, Alexandra and Allyson Lynch, and Lauren and Dale Norcross, all of whom she is survived by, in addition to her daughter-in-law Cyndi Lynch and son-in-law Sterling Norcross.
Prior to raising her family, Rita was an underwriter for Hardware mutual. Following her entrepreneurial calling, Rita’s claim to fame was her gift and party decorating boutique, Rita’s Gift Box, in Irvington. Rita was also an active member of St. Valentine’s Church and Rosary Society in Bloomfield, receiving The Valentine Award for her outstanding dedication and service to the Church. She proudly donated her craft talents to Franklin Elementary School in Bloomfield, where she was class mother, chairman, president and treasurer of the Home and School Association during Kevin and Karen’s school years. Rita was most proud of her contributions as a member of the Bloomfield Bicentennial Steering Committee, and chair of the town’s gala. Known for her never ending energy, she was continually working on hobbies, crafting and volunteering as much as possible. She affectionately referred to each step in her life as additional “icing on the cake.” She was born and raised in Newark, and later resided in Bloomfield for 50 years.
Visitation was be held on Tuesday, March 6th at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield. A Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, March 7th at St. Valentine Church, Bloomfield. For more information, please visit: www.LevandoskiGrillo.com
