Walter T. Coffey, 68, a Vietnam Vet of the 1st Air Cavalry, a Bloomfield firefighter, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away after a long, valiant fight with cancer on Friday, September 29, 2017.
A celebrated life, born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ he moved to Whippany in 1994. For a span of 25 years he coached his childrens’ sports teams in both towns. He loved watching his children and grandchildren, on the field, the courts, or the golf course. He always lent a hand, helping family, friends and neighbors with odd jobs, snow removal, and yard work, never needing to be asked. He loved wildlife, the outdoors, golf, his country and traveling throughout the USA.
Walter is survived by loving wife Angela, sons Kenny (Karin), Walter (Lindsay), John (Michele), and David (Lisa), daughter Karen (Jeff), and grandchildren Benjamin, Olivia, Jaxson, Aubrey, Alex, Sarah and Matthew, sister Doris Esposito, brothers Ed, Vinny, Frank, Jim, and many nieces and nephews.
