The Bucs had a 5-0 lead in the second inning, but Newark Academy rallied for the win.
“We made a few errors and had numerous walks which allowed Newark Academy to take and hold the lead,” Sorce said.
The Bucs also made the same mistakes in their 15-1 loss to West Essex on May 12, as Sorce noted his team made five errors and allowed 12 walks.
After the loss to Newark Academy, the Bucs fell at Montclair, 8-3, May 10. Despite the loss, freshmen Josh Rodriguez pitched five solid innings. “Josh is improving each week and is becoming a bright spot, in what has been a very tough season,” said Sorce, whose team moved to a 2-17 record entering the week.
