BELLEVILLE – The Belleville High School boys’ varsity volleyball team defeated Golda Och Academy and lost to Science Park to move to a 3-4 record.
The Bucs defeated Golda Och Academy in three sets on April 13 at BHS. After winning the first set, 25-22, the Bucs lost the second set, 25-23, but won the decisive third set, 25-23. Junior libero Fidel Barraza had 14 digs; junior outside hitter Alcides Dos Reis had 15 kills, 11 service points and five digs; junior middle hitter Andy Jiang had five kills; senior defensive specialist Marcus Kodare posted eight kills; junior Berwin Villarin notched seven digs; and junior Akushdeep Singh and junior middle hitter Mohammed Yousef each recorded four kills.
BHS fell to Science Park, 25-19, 25-19, April 15, at home, to move to a 3-4 record. Barraza had seven digs; Dos Reis had six kills, seven digs and two blocks; Kodare recorded five service points; junior setter Michael Feneque had 11 assists and four digs; Villarin had three digs; junior outside hitter Christoff Marquez, senior opposite hitter Gabriel Diaz and Jiang each had two kills; and senior defensive specialist Bart Cagandahan had two service points.
