Belleville HS boys’ volleyball team notches wins; advances in ECT

BELLEVILLE – The Belleville High School boys’ varsity volleyball team won back-to-back matches, defeating East Orange Campus and Barringer, to improve to a 5-8 record.

Alcides Dos Reis had 14 kills and 10 digs and Michael Feneque had 19 assists and six digs in the 26-24, 25-20 win over East Orange Campus on April 22, at BHS in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on April 22. Fidel Barazza had eight digs; Christoff Marquez had six digs and four digs and Marcus Kodare had five digs for the fourth-seeded Bucs. East Orange Campus was seeded 13th.

Dos Reis had 13 kills and Feneque had 14 assists in the 26-24, 25-19 home win over Barringer on April 25 in a Super Essex Conference match.

The Bucs will host fifth-seeded Millburn in the ECT quarterfinals on April 27 at 4 p.m. The winner will face the winner of top-seeded Livingston and eighth-seeded Bloomfield Tech in the semifinals on April 30 at the higher-seeded site.

In previous action, the Bucs lost to both Union City, 25-18, 26-24, at BHS, April 20, and Millburn, 28-26, 25-23, April 21, at Millburn.
