Former New York Mets pitcher and current broadcaster Ron Darling to sign copies of new book, ‘Game 7, 1986’, at Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center on April 21

UPPER MONTCLAIR – Ron Darling, the Mets’ former All-Star pitcher and currently an award-winning TV analyst, will discuss and sign copies of his new book “Game 7, 1986: Failure and Triumph in the Biggest Game of My Life,” at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center on April 21 from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at The Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, located on the campus of Montclair State University.

Darling’s book coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Mets’ thrilling championship season. Now one of baseball’s most thoughtful commentators, Darling, who pitched for the Mets from 1983-91 and now works for SNY, MLB Network and TBS, reflects on one of the wildest and best-remembered seasons in baseball history.

He looks back at what might have been the signature moment of his career, when he realized a Little Leaguer’s dream of taking the mound for Game 7 of the World Series. Darling’s dream, however, didn’t go exactly as planned. In his book, he reflects how professional athletes must sometimes shoulder personal disappointment as their teams find a way to win.

Visitors will also get an opportunity to see the Museum’s new exhibit, “Champions in Bronze: The Sculptures of Marc Mellon,” which opens next week.
