NUTLEY, NJ – The Nutley High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Belleville, 5-0, Saturday morning, Sept. 24, in Belleville to improve to a 4-3 record.
The first goal came from junior Iyla Udalov’s header off a throw-in from junior Dan Caraballo. The second came from senior captain CJ Haddock off a feed from Udalov. The half ended 2-0.
Sophmore Austin Sweeney scored from the penalty spot in the beginning of the second half. The fourth goal came from a header from junior Matthew Scorsone off a corner kick taken by Udalov.
The final goal came from sophmore Garrett Groeling assisted by Haddock.
Nutley outshot Belleville, 14-3. Senior goalkeeper David Sanchez and sophmore Brandon Syto combined for three saves in the match for the Raiders.
