Nutley HS girls’ basketball team tops Belleville

NUTLEY, NJ – Courtney Wilde scored 14 points and Abigal Scheidel and Sydney Kunz each had eight points to lead the Nutley High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 44-25 win over Belleville on Friday, Feb. 10, at NHS in a Super Essex Conference non-division game.

The Raiders jumped out to a 12-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Rebecca Granata had seven points; Jenny Callaghan had three points and Mackenzie Moraski and Lindsey Norton each had two points for the Raiders, who improved to a 5-15 record.

Belleville was led by Emani Hill and Yanyckza Flores with six points apiece. Fiorella Samaniego, Jehann Segovia-Dabon and Jazalis Gual each had three points and Janelle Ramirez and Gianna Benacquista each had two points for Belleville, which moved to a 15-5 record.

Belleville will host Immaculate Conception of Montclair on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. for the SEC-Freedom Division title. Belleville is 11-1 in the division.
