Bloomfield 18U baseball team finishes second in league in regular season; advances to championship game vs. Nutley on July 18

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield 18U baseball team, comprising Bloomfield High School players, finished in second place of the Essex Division of the High School Development League.

Bloomfield defeated Verona, Columbia, Nutley and West Essex and lost to Montclair last week to finish with a 10-3-1 record. The team finished second to Montclair after being unable to make up its final game against Cedar Grove.

Bloomfield, under coaches Danny Furbeck, Tom Gilmore, and Jerry Guadabasco, defeated Verona, 10-2, in the semifinals of the league playoffs in the gold bracket on July 16 and will host Nutley in the championship on July 18 at Bloomfield Middle School field at 5:45 p.m.
