Bloomfield Babe Ruth League opens 50th season

The Bloomfield Babe Ruth League players, coaches, and other dignitaries gather for a group pose during opening day ceremonies.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield Babe Ruth League opened its 50th baseball season on Saturday, April 14, at Wright’s Field. Joining in the opening day ceremonies were Bloomfield’s town dignitaries Ralph Caputo, Ted Gamble, Nick Joanow, Carlos Pomares, and Mathew Watkins, and throwing out the annual First Pitch was Councilwoman Wartyna Davis.

Aside from the help and support of volunteers, parents, coaches and league staff, the president of the league, Jonathan Cipollina, was sure to thank all the Team Sponsors which this spring season includes six Bloomfield pizza shops (Angelo’s, Case Turano Parkside, Frank’s, Prime Time, Vinnie’s and Zi Zia). “We thought it would be a nice twist in town to have the already competitive pizza shops take it to the battlefield with each sponsoring their own team. Of the 10 pizza shops invited back in January, six signed up by the end of March. We are so grateful for their involvement and hope for this friendly pizza shop camaraderie to catch on in support of our league going forward,” Cipollina stated.

The Bloomfield Babe Ruth League offers three seasons of baseball, March through June, July through August, and September through November. “While costs to run the league continues to escalate, the league still offers Early Bird registration discounts and Referral Incentives to our returning families to help keep these increases from impacting them,” Cipollina added.

All towns, all skill levels, ages 13 to 17 years old, are welcomed to sign up at www.BloomfieldBabeRuth.com. The average season includes 11 to 15 games with playoffs for an average price of $100 to $125 per player. The league also offers Home Run Derbies open to the public; a Father-Son Game; and the annual All-Star Game at Yogi Berra Stadium which this year is on Friday night June 15.

Summer Baseball is just around the corner. Early Bird registration/ $25 discount opens on May 14 and ends on June 8. Sign up today!
