Bloomfield boys hoops defeats Verona by nearly double the points

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The Bloomfield High School boys basketball team brought home another win on Feb. 20 when the Bengals defeated the Verona Hillbillies, 66-36.

For the Bengals, Vernon Lee was the clear standout player, scoring 23 points. He was followed by Khanye’ Tucker with 11 points, Andrew Dean with 9 points, Chino Anyanwu with 8 points, Isaiah Cortes with 6 points and Seth Edwards with 3 points. Julian Paulino, Ramuel Gotrasse, Jahi Fisher and Uma Kalu each scored 2 points apiece.

Kalu led the team in rebounds, with five, while Lee had four; Tucker, Edwards, Daniel Colon, Dean, Anyanwu and Cortes each had two rebounds. Tucker led assists with three and Lee led steals with four.

For the Hillbillies, Graham Weber led with 9 points, followed by Sean Mulligan with 8 points, Andrew Meyer with 7 points, Kyle Malanga with 5 points, Cael Zebrowski with 3 points, and Alex Rodriguez and Marcos Czupak with 2 points apiece.
