Bloomfield defeats Glen Ridge in Senior American Legion baseball

GLEN RIDGE – Bloomfield defeated Glen Ridge, 11-0, June 28, at Hurrell Field in Glen Ridge in a Senior American Legion League baseball game.

The teams consist of high school players.

Glen Ridge also lost to both Montclair, 7-4, June 29, and Caldwell, 8-6, June 30.

Bloomfield (13-2 record, 26 points) and Glen Ridge (6-5, 12 points) are in first and second place respectively in the American Division of the Essex County Senior American Legion League as of June 30.

The Essex County Senior American Legion League received six bids to the state tournament. The two division winners (American and National) and the next four best teams in terms of points receive bids. The districts will be held July 16-20. The final eight is July 23-28.
The districts are: District 1, at Breslin Field in Lyndhurst. District 2, at Teener League Field in Union. District 3, at Mercer County Park in West Windsor; and District 4, at Union Field in West Deptford. The Final 8 is played at Moody Park in Ewing Township.
