Bloomfield HS baseball team blanks Verona, 1-0, in walk-off fashion

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Senior Manny Corporan pitched a seven-inning complete game two-hit shutout to lead the Bloomfield High School varsity baseball team to a 1-0 walk-off win over Verona on April 18 at Bloomfield Middle School field in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game.

Corporan (2-1) struck out seven and allowed three walks and one hit batter.

It marked the Bengals’ second straight shutout and second win in a row as they improved to a 4-4 record, 4-2 in the division. BHS defeated Science Park, 11-0, two days earlier.

Junior Rob Reboa, who went 2-for-3, reached on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh inning. He was replaced by junior Jon Guglielmino, who served as the pinch runner.

Junior Kyle Tice, who went 1-for-2 with a sac bunt, delivered the game-winning RBI double with two outs to score Guglielmino from first base.
