Bloomfield HS baseball team blanks Verona in the season opener

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Sophomore Vinnie Torrisi had two hits and three RBI and senior Dylan Piacenza drove in a run as the Bloomfield High School varsity baseball team defeated Verona, 4-0, April 5, in the season opener at Verona. Senior Craig Dittrick went 2-for-3 with a double. Senior Manny Corporan stuck out six and allowed two hits over 5 1/3 innings for the win.

The Bengals lost at Newark East Side, 7-6, April 6. Piacenza went 2-for-3 with a triple, walk, two runs and an RBI; senior Jamir Ramos was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI; junior Robert Reboa was 2-for-3; senior Ed Abplanalp went 1-for-3 with a double, walk, run, and an RBI; junior Kyle Tice went 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and two RBI; and senior Eliot Urgent was 2-for-3 with a triple, walk, and a run.

The Bengals fell at West Essex, 5-2, Monday, April 9, in North Caldwell to move to a 1-2 record.

Reboa went 2-for-3; Urgent was 2-for-4; and Piacenza was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
