BLOOMFIELD – Ed Abplanalp went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBI and Luis Rullan went 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored to lead the Bloomfield High School varsity baseball team to an 11-3 home win over Montclair on April 27 at Bloomfield Middle School field in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game.
Danny Carter had three hits and two RBI and Craig Dittrich also went 2-for-3.
Josh Cruz fired a four-hit complete game, allowing three runs, one earned, and three walks and striking out 10.
The Bengals improved to a 6-8 record.
The eighth-seeded Bengals will host ninth-seeded Verona in the first round of the Greater Newark Tournament on or by May 7.
