Bloomfield HS baseball team finishes season with win over Morris Knolls

BLOOMFIELD (updated Monday May 30, 12:34 p.m.) –  The Bloomfield High School varsity baseball team finished its season on a winning note.

The Bengals defeated Morris Knolls, 13-0, May 24, in Rockaway in the season finale.

Danny Carter went 3-for-3 with four RBI and fellow junior Andrew Altiery went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for the Bengals, who finished the season with a 10-17 record.

Joe Giliberti had a double and two RBI and fellow Roger Garcia had a single and two RBI. Winning pitcher Ray Ramos, a senior, threw a five-inning four-hit shutout with five strikeouts and three walks.

The following Bengals made All-Super Essex Conference-American Division:

First team: Carter and senior Luis Rullan. Second team: senior Brian Rennie and Altiery. Honorable mention: senior Josh Cruz and sophomore Ed Abplanalp.

Baseball and softball camps offered

BHS head coach Mike Policastro will direct the 10th annual Bengals Baseball Camp, which will be held for three weeks, July 18-22, July 25-29, and August 1-5, at Bloomfield Middle School field for boys in grades 2-8 (ages 7-15).
