BLOOMFIELD – The Bloomfield High School varsity baseball team hopes to end the regular season on a winning note.
The Bengals were scheduled to visit Roxbury on May 17, in a nonconference game, host Livingston on May 18 at Bloomfield Middle School field in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game and visit Morris Knolls on May 24 at 4 p.m. in Denville in a non-conference game.
The Bengals lost at Belleville, 6-3, Monday night, May 16, in divisional play for their sixth straight loss to move to an 8-15 record. Andrew Altiery went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI and Craig Dittrich went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Bengals.
In earlier action, Brian Rennie had three hits; Luis Rullan had two hits and two RBI and Danny Carter had two hits and a walk, but the Bengals lost to Millburn, 11-4, May 10, at Bloomfield Middle School field in a divisional game. Altiery and Christopher Veloz each had an RBI for the Bengals.
BHS fell to powerhouse Seton Hall Prep in decisive fashion on May 11 at BMS School field in a divisional game. The Bengals fell at Memorial of West New York, 2-0, May 14, in a non-conference game.
BHS, seeded eighth, lost to ninth-seeded Verona, 4-1, in the Greater Newark Tournament first round on May 9 at BMS field.
