Bloomfield HS boys’ basketball team defeats Fair Lawn to advance to North 1, Group 4 quarterfinals

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Michael Ramos scored 18 points and Will Robinson had 13 points to lead the ninth-seeded and defending champion Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 56-47 win over eighth-seeded Fair Lawn in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 state tournament on Feb. 27 at Fair Lawn.

The game was tied 32-32 at the end of the third quarter. Bloomfield outscored Fair Lawn, 24-15 in the fourth quarter.

Kyle Barrow had 11 points and Richie Guillaume had 10 for the Bengals, who improved to a 21-6 record.

BHS will visit top-seeded Randolph in the quarterfinals on March 1. The winner will face the winner of No. 12 seed Bergen Tech and No. 4 seed North Bergen in the semifinals on March 3. The final is March 5.

The other quarterfinal games are No. 6 seed Ridgewood at No. 3 seed Paterson Kennedy, and No. 10 seed West Orange at No. 2 seed Hackensack.

Last season, the top-seeded Bengals defeated Randolph in the semifinals of the North 1, Group 4 tournament.
