Bloomfield HS boys’ basketball team defeats Glen Ridge

BLOOMFIELD – Junior Francis Lorenzo scored a game-high 11 points and senior Nassir Coppedge had nine points to lead the Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 50-37 home win over Glen Ridge on Feb. 20.

Freshman Michael Ramos, senior Brandon Abplanalp and junior Myles Toppin each had seven points; sophomore Kyle Barrow had three points and senior Olivier Georges, junior Al-Samad Henderson and freshman Kevin Mitchell each had two points for the Bengals.

The Bengals jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 31-20 at halftime.

Ramos and Barrow each had 10 points in the 82-47 loss at Newark Tech on Feb. 22. BHS moved to an 8-17 record.

In previous action, the Bengals lost a tough 59-58 decision to Bloomfield Tech at home on Feb. 18.

The Bengals will host Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Feb. 24 in the season finale at 4:30 p.m.
