BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Michael Ramos scored 23 points and Will Robinson had 17 points to lead the 14th-seeded Bloomfield High School boys varsity basketball team to a 62-50 win over No.30 seed Newark Academy in the preliminary third round of the Essex County Tournament, Feb. 7 at home.
Vernon Lee and Vinny Torrisi each had nine points for the Bengals, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Bloomfield then fell to No. 3 seed West Side, 85-53, in the first round (round of 16) Feb. 9 to move to a 10-11 record. Torrisi had 14 points with four 3-pointers; Robinson had 13 points; Ramos had nine points; and Tochi Anyanwu and Patrick Liggins each had six points.
In previous action, the Bengals lost to Millburn, 51-47, Feb. 4 at Millburn. Anyanwu had 22 points; Robinson had 11 points; Ramos scored seven points and Torrisi had four points.
