BLOOMFIELD – The 14th-seeded Bloomfield High School varsity basketball team lost to 19th-seeded North 13th Street Tech in the third preliminary round of the Essex County Tournament on Feb. 11 at BHS.
Myles Toppin, a junior, scored 16 points; junior Al-Samad Henderson and senior Brandon Abplanalp each had eight points; and junior Najeem Wilson had five points for the Bengals.
Mike Ramos, a freshman, scored 12 points and Wilson had 10 points in the 79-50 loss at Newark Central on Feb. 15. Abplanalp had nine points and Toppin had eight points for the Bengals, who moved to a 7-15 record.
In earlier action, the Bengals dropped a tough 46-45 decision to East Orange Campus on Feb. 9 at East Orange.
The Bengals failed to qualify for the state North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 tournament. BHS has three straight home games to finish the season.
