BLOOMFIELD, NJ (updated Tuesday Dec. 20, 11:48 a.m.) – The Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team defeated Verona and West Caldwell Tech on consecutive days to start the season.
Richie Guillaume, a junior, had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals and sophomore Michael Ramos had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the Bengals to a 54-44 home win over Verona
in the season opener on Friday, Dec. 16.
Francis Lorenzo, a senior, had 5 points; junior Mayowa Akindebe had 5 points and 5 rebounds; junior Kyle Barrow had 4 points and 4 rebounds; and senior Myles Toppin had 3 points and 5 rebounds for the Bengals.
Guillaume had 19 points and 6 rebounds; Ramos had 17 points and 5 rebounds; and Toppin had 11 points with 5 rebounds and 3 steals to lead the Bengals to a 71-34 win over West Caldwell Tech on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 17, at BHS. Akindebe had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Vinny Torrisi had 7 points in the win.
