UPDATED: Bloomfield HS boys’ basketball team seeks strong ECT run

BLOOMFIELD, NJ (updated Tuesday Feb. 6, 11:24 a.m.) – The Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team hopes to make a strong run in the 72nd Essex County Tournament.

The Bengals, seeded seventh, will host No. 10 seed Barringer in the first round of the ECT on Friday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals on Feb. 17

Bloomfield defeated Newark University, West Orange, and Wayne Valley to improve to a 15-4 overall record.

Michael Ramos scored 23 points and Will Robinson had 18 points to lead the Bengals to a 69-64 home win over Newark University on Jan. 30 in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game.

Richie Guillaume had 12 points and Kyle Barrow had 11 points for the Bengals.

Ramos scored 16 points and Robinson scored 12 points in the 47-42 win at West Orange on Feb. 1. Mayowa Akindebe, Guillaume and Barrow each had six points.

Ramos scored 16 points and Robinson had 13 points in the 48-44 home win over Wayne Valley on Saturday, Feb. 3, in a non-conference game. Isiah McCallam had six points and Guillaume added five points.
