BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Nicholas Kovach, a senior, and sophomore Anthony Rizzi each scored two goals to lead the 14th-seeded Bloomfield High School varsity boys’ soccer team to a 4-1 win over 19th-seeded Orange HS in the second preliminary round of the Essex County Tournament on Oct. 17 at Watsessing Park.
Junior Antonio D’Andrea, senior James Paule, and junior Jason Ricca each had a assist and junior goalie Matthew Vitella made four saves for the Bengals, who improved to an 8-8 record.
The Bengals will visit third-seeded Millburn in the first round on Oct. 19. The winner will meet the winner between No. 11 seed Livingston and No. 6 seed East Side in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 21.
