BLOOMFIELD, NJ –
The Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Glen Ridge High School, 2-0, Friday, Sept. 22, at Watsessing Park in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game.
Sahil Doshi, a junior, and sophomore Anthony Rizzi each had a goal and junior Jason Ricca and senior Dakota Stefano each had an assist. Junior goalie Matthew Vitella made 11 saves for the Bengals. It marked the Bengals’ fourth straight win after an 0-3 start.
The Bengals’ win streak, however, ended with a 5-2 loss to Montclair at Watsessing Park on Monday, Sept. 25, in a non-conference game. Nicholas Kovach and Rizzi each had a goal, and junior Mesmin Dembassa and Ricca each had an assist. BHS moved to a 4-4 record.
In previous action, Doshi scored both goals to lead the Bengals to a 2-1 win over Passaic in a non-conference game on Sept. 20 in Passaic. Antonio D’Andrea, a junior, and senior Anselme Dembassa each had one assist and Vitella made six saves.
Following the loss to Bloomfield, the GRHS Ridgers fell to West Essex, 3-0, Sept. 25, at Carteret Park in a SEC non division game. GRHS moved to a 3-3 record.
