Bloomfield HS boys’ soccer team to visit No. 1 seed Kearny in state tournament

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School varsity boys’ soccer team, seeded 16th, was scheduled to visit top-seeded Kearny in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 state tournament on Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. The winner will face either No. 9 seed Passaic or No. 8 seed Clifton in the quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 3.

The Bengals lost to West Essex, 4-1, Oct. 25 in North Caldwell. Jason Ricca scored for the Bengals.

BHS fell to Roxbury, 4-3, oct. 27. Anthony Rizzi scored two goals; Jean Pereya had one goal; Ricca and Antonio D’Andrea each had an assist and Matthew Vitella made five saves for the Bengals, who moved to 8-11.
