Bloomfield HS boys’ volleyball team will visit Wayne Valley in the state North Jersey Section 1 tournament semifinals

BLOOMFIELD – The third-seeded Bloomfield High School boys’ varsity volleyball team defeated sixth-seeded Bergen Catholic, 25-22, 25-21, May 26, at home, to advance to the state North Jersey Section 1 tournament semifinals.

Khalil Naouai had 13 kills, four digs and one assist; Jose Bruno-Maldonado had 25 assists and one kill and Noel Shaji had six kills, four digs and three blocks for the Bengals, who improved to a 25-3 record.

Kyle Barrow had three kills and four digs; Al-Samad Henderson had six kills and two blocks; Andy Murillo had one kill; Marc Mathieu had one kill, one block and one ace and Zac Pekar added one assist, one ace and one dig in the win.

The Bengals will visit second-seeded Wayne Valley in the semifinals on June 1. The other semifinal pits fourth-seeded Hackensack at top-seeded Fair Lawn. The final is June 3.
