Bloomfield HS cross-country runners excel at Essex County Championships

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield High School’s Colyer Samper finished 16th in the boys’ varsity race at the Essex County Cross-Country Championships on October 26 at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield.

Samper, a Second Team All-Essex County Cross-Country medal winner, has run his best times at the perfect part of the cross-country schedule.  He ran a 16:40.50, which has only be done by three other Bengal runners in the past 10 years. Samper joins Anthony Ardino, 16:49, 20th place, 2013; Ian Penrose, 16:30, 11th place, 2012, and 16:40, 12th place, 2011, and Alec Duncan, 16:37, 11th place, 2010, as Bloomfield runners to break 17:00 and place at counties.

Next up for the Varsity Top 7 runners for the BHS Cross-Country team is the Sectional Championship on November 3.  This meet is held at the historic Garret Mountain.
