NEWARK, NJ – What a day for the Bloomfield High School cross-country teams!
The program won three plaques for their performances at the Essex County Class Invitational this past Saturday, Oct. 21, at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
The varsity Lady Bengals won overall first place for their combined Sophomore-Junior-Senior scores.
Leading the way was Camrynn Referente, who finished first in the Junior race in 21:12.60. Camrynn’s top finish helped the Junior Girls finished in first place with Paulina Crespo running strong in fifth, followed by Da-Xia Colon in sixth.
The Senior Girls had Natasha Senatus leading the team in fifth place with Emilia Toscano in 11th. The Sophomore Girls saw Amanda Giunta finish in fourth place while Joke-Sindy Casimir ran in sixth overall. Freshman Celin Escobar finished seventh in the 2-mile race with a time of 15:17.70.
The BHS Senior Boys ran their best race of the season, finishing in first place in class. In third overall, Enrique Campos led the Bengals with a 17:18.60 time. La’Shan White was right behind him in fourth place in 17:37.10, followed by Mark Cabrera, seventh; Jason Martin, eighth; and Evan Fitzhenry, 10th. Colyer Samper ran strong in a very competitive Junior class race, finishing 12th.
The Bengals run next on Friday, Oct. 27, on their home course, Brookdale Park, in the Essex County Championships!
