Bloomfield HS football player Joe Bumpus named finalist for USA Football Heart of a Giant award

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield High School senior Joe Bumpus was named the Week 1 winner and is now a finalist for the 2017 USA Football Heart of a Giant award presented by Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants!  

Bumpus won with support from his family, friends and people in town who voted for him.

As the Week 1 winner, the Bloomfield High School football program won a $1,500 equipment grant that will be given in December or January at the close of the program.

Bumpus, a linebacker/tight end, must submit a video showcasing his “Heart of a Giant” story to USA Football, HSS and the New York Giants.

Once all finalists submit their video, USA Football, HSS and the Giants will huddle up to review and select their 2017 Heart of a Giant award winner. The grand prize winner will receive the following:

  • Additional $3,500 equipment grant for high school team.
  • Heart of a Giant trophy.
  • Player and coach will be honored on the field at  the New York Giants home game on December 17 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles (trophy and check presentation).
