BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School varsity football team, under 26th-year head coach Mike Carter, finished with an impressive 7-3 record this season. The Bengals featured several players on the inaugural All-North Jersey Super Football Conference-Liberty Blue Division.
Those Bengals include:
First Team Offense
- Brandon Fernandes, senior running back. Fernandes had 126 carries for 700 yards and 20 touchdowns. He finished his career with 1,381 yards.
Second Team Offense
- Chris Lazard, junior lineman. A two-year starter, Lazard was the leader of the offensive line.
- Vic Saccaro, senior place-kicker. He was 33 of 38 on extra-point kicks and kicked 2 field goals.
- Marcus Wolf, junior. He averaged 39.94 yards per punt with a long punt of 63 yards. He had 14 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Honorable Mention Offense
- Khair Bowman, senior running back. He was a very talented all-around player, lauded coach Carter.
First Team Defense
- Dan Carter, senior linebacker. Carter, who is the son of coach Carter, record 91 tackles. Also played tight end/long snapper/all special teams. He also had more than 200 career tackles.
- Carlos Afful, senior linebacker. Afful Moved to linebacker from safety. Fast and physical, he recorded 75 tackles with 8 tackles for loss.
- Barak Pipkins, senior defensive back. Pipkins ran the secondary and had 2 interceptions. A three-year starter, Pipkins was a very smart and physical player, said coach Carter.
- Ron Vincent, senior lineman. Vincent recorded 68 tackles and 5 sacks. The three-year starter was one of the best in the county, lauded coach Carter.
Second Team Defense
- Ke-vone Hall, senior defensive back. A shutdown cornerback, he improved greatly in his four years, coach Carter said.
- Jared Dockett, senior defensive back/kick returner. Dockett had three interceptions and averaged 21 yards per kick return.
- Myles Toppin, senior defensive back.
Honorable Mention Defense
- Liam Johnson, senior lineman. Johnson was an undersized offensive lineman who played with a great deal of passion and intensity, said coach Carter.

First Team: Dan Carter, Ke-Vone Hall, Ron Vincent.
Second Team: Barak Pipkins, Brandon Fernandes, Chris Lazard, Marcus Wolf, Carlos Afful.
